This is an extremely good New Adult fantasy- full of action mystery, suspense, danger, secrets, emotion, intrigue, and romance.

Although you could read this book as a standalone, I really recommend reading The Reader before setting off on this adventure. I must admit that I was quite interested to see how this story would unfold, especially considering the events in the previous book. I had several scenarios and directions that I thought the story might take. My mind is still reeling with it all. A sure sign of a really great story! There is quite a lot going on between the covers of this book, and I enjoyed following along as everything played out.

I can always rely on Ms. Harkins created. Harkins uses her wonderful word-smithing capabilities to craft interesting and unforgettable characters, as well as an extraordinary world in which her characters, and story, come to life.

Guardians Trilogy Series

Her attention to detail, intricately woven plot, descriptive language and phrases, are fantastic- painting my mind with vivid images. These incredibly surprising developments really had me in a flipping frenzy, devouring the pages to find out what happens and how it all works out. That ending! I need to know more! Please let there be another instalment in the works!!! As always, I am looking forward to Ms. Thank you, Ms.

I have dishes stacked in the sink, a load of laundry sitting in the washer, beds not made, floors not washed and a pot of coffee that has mysteriously disappeared. Why am I telling this to you, you ask? The introduction was a great add, as I had read the Readers, awhile back, it was great to read as a reminder of the Readers or as a first-time reader of the story. I usually see the "who did it" in books and movies, before they are revealed. And you blew my mind with the reveals I almost cried during a chapter, I hated it because it ended! I had a "movie" of it in my head.

Thank you so much, MK Harkins, I have really enjoyed my Saturday morning and afternoon with The Jack and all the characters you've brought to life with your phenomenal story telling abilities!!!

Jodee A Oct 13, E. Harkins was a entertaining engaging read that had my hooked. Not my first read by this author or in this series, and though this book takes place two years after The Reader ends, this is still a continuation series so I suggest reading the first book before this one, as it will give you much needed info on the character's backstory and, the even that takes place before The Jack.

I have to say, that this book was a tad bit better than the first, there were still some scenes that felt rushed, like the first book, but the overall plot was a bit more polished and being told in duel POV really added something special to this read. Again this book has the same picturesque writing as the first and expands on that original story and tale that M. I like Archer in the first book, he really got the short end of the stick.

But I'm glad this story follows him and his journey to redemption and finally getting those shadows lifted. Sadie was a okay character, for someone that's live for two millina, she sure was nice. I don't know, if that was me, I don't think I would be that kind, or sane. Overall this book was the perfect addition to this unique tale. I was drawn in from the start, and though there some pacing issues, the plot was gitty, the characters well-rounded and connecting. I give this book my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading -E. Oct 10, Maura rated it it was amazing. THE JACK Book 2 of the series is an amazingly fantastically layered story and it is my opinion that it will be a much more satisfying read if read in order.

See a Problem?

There are a lot of nuances and characters for which the groundwork is layed in the first book. Ok, now my review Today was an incredibly busy day being an adult.

As quickly as I devoured a pint of ice cream, I turned the pages of this book. It has complex plots and twists and all the goodness that comes from the author's brain. It is a visually appealing book and I was able to "watch it unfold" as I read along. I do not write spoilers in my reviews so I am choosing to say nothing about the storyline. Just know that this series is in my top five reads of I would recommend this to anyone who likes to read. Aug 26, Julie rated it really liked it Shelves: paranormal , fantasy , ya. It was abound with romantic tension, suspenseful action and surprise twist and turns that blew my mind.

Which will Archer choose? An exciting, edge of the seat read, well written and very entertaining.

Aug 22, Mylissa Demeyere rated it it was amazing. Loved the story. All the twists and turns, all the romantic tension, all the action! Harkins proves to be an excellent storyteller, engaging the reader and taking them on a thrilling ride. Oh and Archer is really, really hot! Sep 18, Nancy Thompson rated it it was amazing. This author has come a long way since releasing her first book, but I've been a fan since then. Hard to pick a favorite series, and PNR isn't a genre I read a lot of, but both The Reader and The Jack were immensely enjoyable, quick and easy to read, and thrilling to the end.

What I liked most about The Jack is Archer. He's a misfit who's lost his way among other things, like the woman he loved, but then Sadie comes along This author has come a long way since releasing her first book, but I've been a fan since then. He's a misfit who's lost his way among other things, like the woman he loved, but then Sadie comes along and she's unlike anyone he's ever met. I won't give away any details here, just know this is a book you won't regret buying. It has all the requisite elements of a great read: fast, thrilling plot, interesting, fleshed out characters, 2 wonderful voices, authentic dialog, and a fast pace that'll keep you in your favorite reading chair all day til you finish it That's how good it is, and I'm a very picky reader.

Highly recommended! Now, if we could just get this author to write The Seer, we'd be all set with the most perfect trilogy ever! May 03, Amber Andrews rated it really liked it. I loved this story! Great continuation of characters and the pace was just right for all the action. Not steamy and not lame, I think I'm over the overly sexual books.

I love her writing style and voice. Aug 30, Malissa rated it really liked it Shelves: part-of-a-series , arcs , review-to-come , young-adult , romance , sci-fi. As soon as this book came on my radar I knew that I had to read it.

Wings of Shadow (book 2 in The Immortal Sorrows Series) by Sherri A Wingler

Having not read the first book, The Reader, I immediately went and one-clicked it, tore through it, and then sat in anxious anticipation for The Jack to release! I knew this one was going to have me gripping the pages because I fell hard and fast for Archer in the first book and wow the way things went out in The Reader I wasn't quite sure where his story was going to go, although I knew he would be redeemed I was totally unsure As soon as this book came on my radar I knew that I had to read it.
