Reviewed by Linda Richards. There's a reason Danielle Steel sells so many books. Some million copies of her novels at last count. She is, in the way these things are gauged, one of our planet's most popular novelists. Steel writes well, builds compelling characters and knows how to tell a story. What brings critics to her door along with her fans is the glimpse she offers of her own world: insular and insulated, a world filled with Versace and trips to Paris. A world that doesn't worry too much about recycling or mortgage payments or how to come up with the cash for the kids' orthodontics bill.

In this way The Klone and I is classic Steel. The Klone and I 's main character is Stephanie, a something Manhattan matron with a big, fat trust fund and no discernible flaws of form or character. Stephanie loves Elaine's and 21 , shopping, summers in the Hamptons and she wears Dior. In the opening scenes of the book, Stephanie's husband of 13 years leaves her for another woman: a younger one with an even bigger trust fund.
And, naturally, Paul who's more like a robot, with electrical wiring and a removable head , is all the outrageous things that sober Peter is not: charming, spontaneous, and an artist in bed: Besides the Day-Glo wardrobe, he performs triple somersaults during sex, and is working on his quadruple. It's no surprise, then, that Stephanie finds her affections pulled in two very different directions. Paul is fun, but could she marry a robot?

Peter's sweet, but not nearly as stimulating as Paul. Can she have both? And what will the kids say, not to mention her ex-husband? A deft, bubbly, decidedly unusual romance, and a welcome departure for the ever-redoubtable Steel. There was a problem adding your email address.

Average Review. Write a Review. Klone and I 2. Anonymous More than 1 year ago This one was not good. It of course is a love story with a twist. Stephanie is 41, divorced with 2 children that keep her busy. She goes on a trip while the children are with their father. While in Paris she meets an American guy and falls fast for him.
When she picks her children up and settles back into life with them Peter calls her and they start seeing each other. When he is called away on business, his Klone comes to stay with her. She has no clue why Peter is acting strangely and the sexual side is so much better when he is acting like this. At the end she has to choose which she loves more Peter or his Klone. KrissZane on LibraryThing More than 1 year ago It's a story of love and passion goes sour when the man she loves now has a Klone.
She loves the real person and the klone.

She loves them both, but she doesn't know which one to choose; she wants both of them. One is funny, sweet, and caring; and the other is wild, crazy, and yet totally beautiful. Anonymous More than 1 year ago A totally different venue for D S I thought the plot was interesting but digressed to unbelievable crap in a short time!
Anonymous More than 1 year ago Tunurruhvmrututtubyfhnmyu bnvn b c. Anonymous More than 1 year ago I have read every Danielle Steel novel penned, but I must say this one was awful. Definitely not up to Steel's usual high caliber If you want my advice, just skip this one. That being said, I would highly recommend any other Steel novel.
Only giving one star because I have to in order to post this review. Anonymous More than 1 year ago The book has its giggles, but overall isn't up to Steel's normal caliber. The text is also loaded with typos. Anonymous More than 1 year ago. Anonymous More than 1 year ago Not only delightful but cutely kinky. I adore Danielle steel and have read most of her works, this is by far an escape from all the rest- a fun read! Guest More than 1 year ago I guess Danielle Steel probably wrote this book as a break from her usual types of romance and strong heroine-based stories But this was absolutely one of the worst books I have ever read.
Although it does have some humor, I just expected better from her. I have read every one of her books and I must say that I am sorry I wasted my money on this one. Read anything else she has written, but do not waste your time on this book. Guest More than 1 year ago I was very disappointed with this book. Absolutely Kookie! I would have never guessed it was written by Danielle Steele.
I would not reccomend this book to anyone. All others I have read by Danielle Steele are great! Guest More than 1 year ago This is the first book I've read that has made me laugh out loud in a long time. Mrs Steel you've done an excellent job. Keep those funny books coming. We need a break from those tear jerkers.
